In this interview with Lasha Watson, Kid Code Instructor/Teacher, Entrepreneur, Mom & Wife, you can learn how to use the strategy called ‘Attitude or Gratitude’ in The Kid Code.
Life is like a vending machine—what you put in; you get out. If you put in attitude, you get misery out. If you put in gratitude, you get joy out.
Lasha shares how their family re-wires, reframes and dissolves tension when attitude arises by naming three things they are grateful for. To encourage the kids to participate, she often shares with her kids, what she’s grateful for in her kids. The exercise skips blaming and jumps right into joy—the place we all want to be!
Because our work is about well-being, it’s good to ask kids how they want to feel when they’re done a fun activity—do they want to feel the same way when they’re done the activity as they felt when they started it (like watching TV). This helps them realize that they can self-regulate back to their nature and can skip the painful step of having a hissy fit!
