Today I’m joined by Lisa Sugarman a parenting author, a syndicated columnist, a radio show host, and—a mom—out of Boston.
Lisa’s work centers around the idea that we can all live a much more stress-free and joyful life when we learn to embrace our perfectly imperfectness. And that involves cutting ourselves and the people around us some slack and not being afraid to drop some balls once in a while.
She loves having organic and honest conversations about the benefits of positivity and the importance of letting go of pre-existing ideas and expectations. Because that’s how we create resilience and growth.
Today’s she’s talking about the importance of listening, realize our expectations aren’t helpful, and the wisdom of letting them make their mistakes and seeing where to pivot from there.
4:55 Shut up and listen, stop being the one that needs to be talking!
5:49 Stop having expectations for yourself that yoy have to do everything right (that translates to swooping in and being hyper-obsessed with making the pathway (falsely) easier for our kids.
11:05 Ebb and flow within the idea of when to give opinions and when to let go. Let them make their own mistakes and have gained something and pivot in another direction.
