Angie Patterson, photographer extraordinaire—tells us how photography connects kids to nature, to their parents and to their own creativity. It helps them with productive screen time, (vs. brain deadening screen time) they can use it as play time—it’s a peaceful outlet, it helps them use their imaginations, and gives them something positive to focus on.
Kids can use the camera to tell a story about a caterpillar’s journey, or for older kids, they can tell a story about friends, special events or even things in their rooms. If they are feeling stress, they can go and immerse in some peaceful time with their camera—take pictures of whatever resonates with them—they can even start with their own feet!
